Discontinuous Galerkin Methods for Turbulent Flows

In this talk, we give an overview of discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods for turbulent flows at high speed. We focus our attention on hybridizable DG (HDG) methods, embedded DG (EDG) methods, and local DG (LDG) methods for computational fluid dynamics. We describe parallel iterative solvers for DG methods with emphasis on new matrix-free preconditioners. Finally, we introduce an open-source software implementing DG methods and matrix-free solvers for numerical simulations on CPU/GPU platforms with distributed memory. We present numerical results for transonic and hypersonic turbulence flows to highlight the performance of the DG code.
