A positivity-preserving and conservative high-order flux reconstruction method for the polyatomic Boltzmann–BGK equation

We present a numerical scheme for solving the polyatomic Boltzmann equation with the aim of increasing the applicability of the approach and drastically reducing the associated computational cost. The proposed scheme combines a positivity-preserving high-order flux reconstruction spatial discretization for unstructured meshes, guaranteeing the positivity of density and internal energy, with a nodal discrete velocity model, ensuring conservation regardless of the resolution.
