Tumor cell progression and metastasis are complex phenomena, that involve ongoing molecular and cellular changes. We present ongoing development of the rheological model capable to simulate for tumor cell progression. Using the developed numerical methodology, we propose a theory that provides a new insight into the mechanisms of the tumor development and explains complex biological phenomena, such as fingering formation along the periphery of the tumor and the growth priorities given to individual cells during the tumor development in terms of minimizing the mechanical energy stored within the growing tumor.
