The computational work in this study focuses on the performance of capped T-ring seals in reciprocating motion for landing gear shock absorber applications. In this study a mixed lubrication model considering the Elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) and deformation mechanics is developed, and a computational procedure to couple solutions from fluid mechanics and deformation mechanics is introduced. The model acquires insight from the sealed pressure, piston velocity, lubricant oil properties, and static contact pressure obtained using the Finite Element Method (FEM); to calculate the fluid film pressure distribution, fluid film thickness, and asperity contact pressure.
