Numerical simulation of LOx-CH4 reacting flows under supercritical conditions

The present study is focused on the modeling and simulation of the combustion of methane with oxygen at high pressure, i.e. in the supercritical regime. In this configuration, a priori no interface between the two propellants can be discerned. However, the modeling requires particular attention to high-pressure thermodynamics and non-ideal transport. Triple flames develop at different locations in the flow showing reactive island structures either in the methane or oxygen stream. Such behaviors are recovered by LES.
