Modelled stress depletion (MSD) is the most important issue when using hybrid RANS- LES turbulence models. This problem is typically found with ambiguous meshes which is why theses models are heavily sensitive to mesh refinement. This study attempts to find a solution to this issue for DES-type models by introducing a synthetic turbulence generation. It amplifies the flow velocity perturbations based on the artificial dissipation term of modelled turbulence. Different mesh refinement levels and time steps are studied to evaluate the mesh sensitivity of the proposed solution.
